The Wooster community and scholars from around the United States will honor the memory of Dr. Ronald T. Takaki this weekend by putting their minds together to develop new strategies for teaching race and ethnic studies. Takaki is a pioneering scholar of multicultural studies and a 1961 graduate of The College of Wooster.
The conference, “Remapping the Terrain: ‘Our American Stories’” will develop new strategies and paradigms to enhance the teaching of race and ethnic studies to liberal arts undergraduates.
Plenary sessions will focus on three main themes:>
- “Rethinking Theories and Paradigms in the Teaching of Race and Ethnicity”
- “Methodologies of Race and Ethnic Studies Pedagogy and Research”
- “Intersections and Mobility within Ethnic Studies”
